1. Overview

KOMPacer (“we”, “our”, or “the service”) provides cycling pacing strategies and mathematical climb calculations. We are committed to protecting your personal information and handling data in accordance with the Strava API Agreement and standard data protection practices.

2. Data We Collect via Strava API

When you connect your Strava account, we access only the data necessary to provide pacing calculations and segment lookups:

  • Athlete Profile: Athlete ID and basic profile details to identify your session.
  • Starred Segments: List of your favorite segments to populate the segment selector.
  • Segment Statistics: Distance, elevation profiles, average gradients, KOM/QOM times, and your Personal Record (PR) on selected climbs.

3. How We Use Your Data

Your data is used strictly for:

  • Executing physics-based simulations (power, rolling resistance, aerodynamic drag, gradient forces).
  • Generating pacing targets and estimating completion times for cycling segments.

We do not sell, rent, or monetize your data. We do not use your data for advertising, marketing profiling, or training external machine learning/AI models.

4. Data Security and Retention

  • Token Encryption: All Strava OAuth authentication tokens are stored in an encrypted format using AES-256-GCM.
  • Automatic Cache Expiration: Cached segment information and personal records are automatically deleted from our database after 7 days if not refreshed.

5. Account Disconnection and Data Deletion

You maintain full control over your data. You can disconnect your Strava account at any time either directly via KOMPacer or in your Strava account settings (Settings → My Apps → Revoke Access). Upon revocation or manual account disconnection, your stored tokens and associated cached data are permanently deleted.

6. Strava API Attribution

KOMPacer is powered by the Strava API but is an independent application. KOMPacer is not endorsed or certified by Strava, Inc.
